Betty Jean Harper Bond

Betty Bond, 88, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2017. Memorial Service: 2 p.m. Saturday, Ridglea Christian Church, 6720 West Elizabeth Lane, Fort Worth. Born Betty Jane Harper in Mexico, Mo., on May 17, 1928, Betty was raised with Midwestern values and pluck. With her husband, Rev. Robert Bond, she relished her role as a Disciples of Christ minister's wife, pastoring churches in Belleville, Ill. Villa Park, Ill., Plattsburg, Mo., and finally settling in Fort Worth. Along the way came children, Leigh and Lexa, as well as Betty's return to college to secure her elementary education teaching certificate. After more than 20 years of teaching, lastly with Lake Worth ISD, Betty retired. Betty cherished her family and friends (love to Betty Sublett, Lavonda Pointer, Ridglea Christian Church choir and congregation), and her pup, Pippi. She valued faith, education, music, and wit. And, she appreciated spirited conversation, a challenging crossword puzzle, and a rousing Butler University basketball game. She received a most beloved gift in the form of Alfred Hall, who shared with her an unparalleled love and devotion...BJ and Alfie experienced the world in ways that a small town daughter of the Depression could never have imagined. Betty, BJ, Mom, Grammy... how blessed we are to have loved you and been loved by you. You will never leave us for we shall always feel your presence in the beauty and wonder of life. With our love, Alfred Hall; Leigh, Ellen, Heather, Chelsea (Bennett) and Brandon Bond; Lexa, Katie and Sarah Auld To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Betty Jean Harper Bond please visit our Sympathy Store.
