Floy T. Ezell

Floy Ezell GRAPEVINE -- Floy Ezell went home to be with the Lord on Saturdeay, April 25, 2015, at the age of 96. Service: 1 p.m. Thursday at the First Baptist Church, Grapevine. Interment will follow in Sanger Cemetery in Sanger. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Grapevine. Floy was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Sanger. Floy served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II where he was exposed to photography, which he continued as a hobby for many years. After getting out of the service in 1945 he married Verdie Horst, who preceded him in death in 1996. Floy first got into city government in Sanger as their city secretary. He moved to Grapevine to be come city secretary in 1960, later he became Grapevine's first city manager. As city manager he was very involved in the construction of the DFW Airport and the Grapevine Golf Course. Floy's hobbies included golf, woodworking and photography. He loved giving away his woodworking projects as much as he did making them. He joined the First Baptist Church in Grapevine in 1960 and attended regularly. He loved his Bible study and the many friends he made there. Survivors: Son, Kerry and his wife, Carol Ezell, of Grapevine; Carol's parents, Jim and Elizabeth Fagan of Denton; and nephews, Guy Humphries and wife, Linda, of Dallas and Tom Horst and wife, Linda, of North Richland Hills.
