Joseph Gerard Fenlon

Joseph “Joe” Gerard Fenlon, 55, of Hurst, Texas passed away Sunday, April 26th, 2015 with his daughter beside him. Joe has been battling COPD for years but the knowledge of his consistent trouble with breathing provided no shield of armor against the stabbing pain of losing him from this world. His daughter was literally right beside him when he left this temporary home to be with God. She talked to him as much as she could letting him know she loved him and the last words she remembers saying to him was, “Papa Joe, you are going to be okay.” Those last few moments she had with him were short and scary but she feels confident that he knew how much he was loved and she wouldn’t want it any other way. A Celebration of Life service will be held between 2pm and 4pm at Lucas Funeral Home at 1321 Precinct Line Road in Hurst, Texas.Joe’s daughter will be speaking as well as anyone else who would like to talk about Joe or his life. If you live far away and will not be able to make it to the memorial, feel free to email his daughter funny stories or memories you had with Joseph and she will be more than happy to read them during that time. Joe is being cremated, so after the ceremony, you are welcome to enjoy the remainder of your day. Joseph was born September 18th, 1959, in St. Ignace, Michigan to John and Rena Fenlon. He graduated from Lasalle High School in 1977. After graduating Joe spent some time in Florida with his niece Cindy and Nephew John before moving to Texas. In 1987 he married April Lee Wells and became a father shortly after that same year. Joe spent a large portion of his life working as a carpenter with his boss and best friend, Gary Bezner. Joe was one of fourteen children, sharing his amazing parents with 9 sisters and 4 brothers. Joe is most remembered for his love for Bob Dylan music, playing golf, and of course bringing happiness and laughter to anyone he came across. For the last ten years he has made up for lost time with his daughter and two grandsons, spending days and nights, birthdays, holidays, and special occasions celebrating and living life with loved ones. Joseph is survived by his Mother; Rena Fenlon, His Siblings; Patricia Fenlon Norwich, Anne Fenlon Demske, Mary Fenlon Marriott, Kathy Fenlon Hughes, Molly Fenlon Mathews, Mike Fenlon, Vicki Fenlon Holdwick, Jane Fenlon Hampton, Dan Fenlon, Margaret Fenlon Saunders and Susan Fenlon Krol. His daughter, Sara and his two grandsons, Eaem & Hudson, as well as dozens of cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brothers John G. Fenlon and Tim Fenlon and his father, John R. Fenlon. The last few days have been a cluster of necessary and inevitable tasks to accomplish after a loved one passes. With the help, love, and prayers of many friends and family I have been able to honor Papa Joe the best way I could. Online condolences can be written on the Lucas Funeral Web tribute. A SPECIAL THANKS TO all of Joseph and Sara’s friends and family for making this possible. To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Joseph Gerard Fenlon please visit our Sympathy Store.
