Funeral Service: 2pm Monday, March 2, 2015 at Lucas Funeral Home Chapel, Keller. Visitation: 1-3pm Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Knox was a homemaker, dedicated school teacher, loving wife and mother. She and her husband, Joe Knox, were married 67 years before his passing in 2013. Most of those years were lived in Keller, TX, where they raised their family, watching the town grow from a small rural area with two grocery stores to a large and bustling community. They moved to Bowie, TX, in 1992, and then later relocated to Lewisville, TX, to be closer to family. Mrs. Knox taught elementary school in Keller for many years, during which time she was instrumental in founding the Keller chapter of Texas State Teachers Association, serving as president for two terms. After retiring from teaching, she was responsible for helping establish Keller Christian School in 1981, a private preschool still in operation today. Mrs. Knox was the school’s first director, and then served on the board of directors for several years afterward. She was a faithful member of the Church of Christ, attending the Keller congregation for over forty-five years, where she taught children’s classes as well as ladies’ Bible classes. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; and two sisters, Francis Louise and Cleo Maxine Bailey. Mrs. Knox is survived by: brother, James (Bucket) Bailey and wife Sue of Abilene; sister, Bettie Brown of Houston; brother-in-law, Dean Knox of Galveston; daughter, Janelle Dennis of Lewisville; daughter, Susan Aston and husband Mike of Abilene; son, Tom Knox and wife, Jan, of Olathe, KS; seven grandchildren: Jolene McDonie of Lewisville; Julie Conary of McKinney; Jeremy Dennis of Lewisville; Jordan Aston of Lubbock; Jared Aston of Los Angeles, CA; Melanie Larson of Edmond, OK; Justin Knox of Plano; and six great-grandchildren. “Who can find a virtuous woman, for her price is far above rubies… her children arise up and call her blessed.” Proverbs 31: 10,28.
