Lucian "L.B." Holmes

Lucian Boren "L.B." Holmes, Jr., of Keller, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, from complications of pneumonia. He would have been 84 on March 26. L.B. loved his life in Keller; his wife and much family in the area, his church family at Keller Church of Christ, his clients of his tax service, and his neighbors and friends, whom he counted the good folks at Keller Town Hall. Born in Dallas in 1930, L.B. married Barbara Jean Wilson, in 1951. He is survived by her and their sons Lucian Boren, III, 60, Mitchell Lynn, 55, and his wife, Nora Kay, daughter Holly Gail Henry, 58, and her husband, David, and son David Baxter, 49, and his wife Dana. He and Barbara have six granddaughters, two grandsons and three great grandchildren. L.B.'s first career was as a salesman and regional manager of heavy drilling equipment serving the oil industry. It took him to Houston in 1969, where he resided in Conroe, then to Midland in 1980. After retiring in 1985, he completed his B.B.A. in Accounting and Information Systems at the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in 1988, being elected to Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He and Barbara moved to Quitman in 1989 to care for their mothers. While there, L.B. developed a client base that he largely kept when they moved to Keller in 2002, to be near as much family, children and grandchildren as they could.
