Para Lee Reed, 98, a former Brownwood, Texas resident passed away on Thursday, October 29, 2015, at her home in Fort Worth. Recognized as a Church Mother and addressed as Mother Reed, was born February 28, 1917, in Hungerford, Texas. After being a resident of Brownwood for fifty-five years while serving those same years at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Mother Reed served faithfully as a Baptist Christian Home Missionary and also was involved in activities pertaining to Brownwood area churches and their efforts to support students in the community at large. Upon moving to the DFW Metroplex, Mother Reed was a member of Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, Texas, before retiring permanently to Fort Worth where she immediately became a faithful member of Meadowbrook First Baptist Church until she received the Heavenly call to be with the Lord. She will always be remembered as a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, mentor and friend who lived a life deep in Christian faith. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Para Lee Reed was preceded in death by her parents Phyllis Owens Washington and Ned Washington; paternal grandparents Mary and William Washington; maternal grandparents Elizabeth and Ned Owens; precious infant daughter Phyllis Lucille Reed, promising young son Primus Vanadore Reed and beloved daughter-in-law Jeanette Wilson Reed (Timothy, Sr.). SURVIVORS: Her Daughters and Caregivers Rose Marie Reed, Gloria Reed Austin and husband Jim, Granddaughter Tara C. Reed, Ph.D. and Chris Reed-Brown. She is also survived by sons Dr. Kelly M. Reed, Jr., and wife Gloria; Noel L. Reed, Sr., and wife Mattie, and Timothy D. Reed, Sr., as well as 12 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
