BEDFORD -- Paul K. Linscott, a U.S. Army retired lieutenant colonel, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, in Bedford after a short illness. Memorial service: 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 24, at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Military burial: 11:15 a.m. Friday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First United Methodist Church of Hurst, the Wounded Warrior Project, or charity of your choice in his memory. Paul was born in South Bend, Ind., the only child of Verne and Mae Litten Linscott. He graduated from Purdue University in 1957 and began 22 years of service in the U.S. Army, which included two tours in Vietnam. In 1959 he married the special girl he found in Virginia, JoAnne Gottshall. Together they became an Army family with the addition of Greg in 1962 and Amy in 1966. They lived many places, including Germany and Okinawa. Upon his military retirement in 1979, he came to Fort Worth and began his second career at Bell Helicopter which brought him much joy for 20 years. The family has lived in Hurst for 35 years and he was a member of First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Paul was an avid follower of TCU football attending all home games. And he especially enjoyed attending the Rose Bowl in 2011 with his good friend, Don Agan. He loved to play golf with dear friends at Willowsprings Golf Club. Following his retirement, he was a volunteer tax aide for AARP for 12 years. Travel brought him great pleasure in retirement, especially cruising and visiting Hawaii. Always an optimist and ready to have fun. Survivors: Wife, JoAnne Linscott; son, Gregory Linscott (Debbie); daughter, Amy Peter (Tim); grandsons, Brandon and Cory; stepgrandchildren, Brandi, Amber and Stephen; four stepgreat-grandchildren.
