Pearl Virginia Pike, a longtime soldier, was promoted to glory Thursday, Jan. 8, 2015, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Service: 2 p.m. Wednesday at Williams & Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania Ave., Fort Worth. Luncheon will precede the funeral 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. for family and funeral participants at The Salvation Army - Northside Corps, 3023 NW 24th St., Fort Worth. Pearl was born Sept. 3, 1920, in Wichita Falls to Joe and Nellie Gregg. She was a faithful soldier of the Fort Worth Northside Corps. Pearl served as Sunday school teacher, Home League secretary, League of Mercy secretary and any place that needed her help. She will be remembered as an avid gardener and she regularly enhanced worship services by placing fresh flowers from her garden on the Holiness Table. Pearl was faithful to God, her corps and her corps officers. She had been cared for by her nephew David Horne and his wife Cissy, for the last four years. Pearl was preceded in passing by her loving husband, Clifford Pike; her parents; and two sisters, Opal Horne and Jewel Edwards. Survivors: Sister, Ruby Funderburg; nephews, Freddy Horne and wife, Patricia, and Tommy Halderman and wife, Mimi; great-nephews, David Horne and wife, Alicia, and Alan Horne and wife, Jennifer; numerous great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews; and longtime friend, Patricia Wixon.
