Ralph Bryan, 95, a civic leader and former member of the Hurst City Council, died Friday, Jan. 2, 2015. Funeral: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, 1321 Precinct Line Road. Burial to follow in Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Ralph Bryan, a 33-degree, 71-year, Scottish Rite Mason, member of the Karem Temple Shrine and Hurst Lodge, was born in Waco on Nov. 18, 1919, and had resided in Hurst since 1967. He served 32 years on various boards and commissions in Tarrant County, including 12 years on the Hurst City Council, and was honored in 2001 as Hurst "Citizen of the Year" by proclamation of Texas State Representative Todd Smith. A former cotton gin operator, and a professional in the electrical supply industry for over 30 years, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 66 years, Lorene Bryan; mother, Elsie Morgan Bryan; father, Richard "Dick" Bryan; and sister, Mary Bunnell. A dedicated Christian, devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend; he was loved and will be missed by many. He was a good man. Survivors: Daughter, Beverly Bode and husband, David, of Seagoville; sons, Richard Bryan and wife, Jo, of Bedford and Bill Bryan and wife, Kathy, of Hurst; sister, Virginia Cashion Marstaller of Waco; grandchildren, Richard Bryan, Shannon Raymond, Melissa Crump, Robert Bryan, Ashley MacDonald, Kacy Bryan and Riley Bryan; and six great-grandchildren.
