Sharon Ruth Baker

HURST -- Sharon R. Baker, 71, of Hurst began her heavenly life on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. Funeral: Noon Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst with visitation preceding the service at 11 a.m. Interment: 1 p.m. Thursday in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, she has requested that a donation to a charity of your choice be given in the name of Eddie and Sharon Baker. She lived in Dallas enjoying a career of law librarian until her husband, Eddie Baker, and his position at Bell Helicopter brought them to her loved city of Hurst. Prior to her husband's death, they shared a blessed marriage for 25 years. They enjoyed a life of skeet shooting, camping at Lake Dallas and traveling to places such as Paris, London and Hong Kong. She fondly referred to that time as the "good ole days." Sharon was a beloved member of the community and could be frequently found volunteering her time with the Hurst Citizens Fire Academy Alumni Association and the Hurst Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association. She also was a member in standing with the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Auxiliary. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eddie Baker; her mother, Ruth "Ruthie" Fisher; her father, Arthur Parke Fisher; and brother, Pete Fisher. Survivors: Sharon is survived by her brother-in-law, James "Jimbo" and Sarah Hughes; nephew, Wade Hughes; niece, Lynn Hughes; niece, Deborah R. Weidenkopf; great-niece, Katherine Weidenkopf; sisters-in-law, Vernon and Linda Calcote; sisters-in law, Troy and Shirley Hickman; special friends, Rob and Becky Lane, and Doug and Cheryl Kovach.
