NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- Betty Lou Oats, 91, passed into the arms of her Lord and Savior on Wednesday evening, Nov. 5, 2014, Funeral: 11 a.m. Monday in Lucas Hurst Chapel. Interment will follow in Bluebonnet Hills Cemetery in Colleyville. The Rev. Dennis Hudson will officiate. Visitation: The family will receive friends 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Betty, a devoted wife, leaves behind Henry, her loving husband of 60 years, her extended family and many devoted friends. Betty was born in Memphis, Texas, living in Memphis, Goodnight, Haltom City and finally North Richland Hills. She graduated from Birdville High School, class of 1941. She held positions of secretary and office manager for different businesses and the Birdville ISD school district. She married Henry in July 1954 and together they made a home and were inseparable companions to each other. Betty was a consummate homemaker and cook. Anyone who came in contact with her always felt her warmth and love. Family, neighbors and close friends were always the benefactors of a gracious spirit that embodied the meaning of putting others first. Her life was a testament to how we should treat each other and live our lives. She will be greatly missed. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Chester and Lulu Souder. Survivors: Husband, Henry; sisters-in-law, Robbie Sprinkles and Kathy Zellman; nieces and nephews; numerous great-nephews and great-nieces; and a host of close friends.
