Charles Robert Wilson

Charles Robert Wilson, of Arlington, TX, passed away on Friday December 16, 2022. He was 74.

Charles was born on November 22, 1948, in Quanah, Texas to Hubert and Geneva Wilson (Adcock). He spent his childhood in Texas, Nebraska, Alabama, and Louisiana before graduating with a degree in Biblical Studies from Lubbock Christian College in Lubbock, TX, where he met his surviving wife of 50 years, Karen Laverne Wilson (Patrick).

He later earned a Master’s in Theology from Harding Graduate School in Memphis, TN. This began his nearly 35-year career as a minister in the Churches of Christ. He was heavily involved with the Christian Education Association and spent most of his working career as a education minister. He had a special affinity for directing large church productions, such as elaborate family bible school and Christmas musicals.

He is survived by his sister Peggy Lefort (Wilson) and her husband Pierre Lefort, as well as by his three children, their spouses, and five grandchildren: Jacob and Tanya Wilson (Nikitenko), and daughter Mila; Chris and Danielle Nusbaum (Wilson), and children Emily and Robert; Benjamin and Abigail Wilson (Felmet) and children Ada and Judah.

He thoughtfully planned this service to feature several of his favorite worship songs, which reflect the deepness of his faith in God’s presence in our world. When Charles’ church began incorporating “I Can Only Imagine” into our regular worship rotation, it quickly became his favorite new worship song because it perfectly encapsulated the mystery and awe that awaits us following this brief time on earth.
