Christopher "Chris" Jones, 71, passed away unexpectedly on July 8, 2026, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Chris was born on August 9, 1954, in Wichita Falls, Texas, to Mary Louise (Ard) Smith and the late Billy Ray Jones. He was a proud Texan who believed in hard work, loyalty, and taking care of the people he loved.
Nothing brought Chris more joy than his family. Some of his daughter's favorite childhood memories were the vacations and adventures they shared together. Years later, one of his greatest joys was creating those same memories with his grandchildren. Whether they were exploring somewhere new or simply spending time together, those moments meant everything to him.
His greatest title was Grandad. He loved making his grandchildren laugh, teaching them new things, and simply being present in their lives. They knew they were deeply loved, and the memories they made together will be cherished forever.
Chris will be remembered for his quiet strength, his sense of humor, and the steady, dependable way he loved his family. His legacy lives on in the memories he created and the example he set for those who knew and loved him.
Chris is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Mitchell; his grandchildren, Regan Talbot, Jacie Talbot, Evan Bellah, Kellin Luther, and Serena Mitchell; his mother, Mary Louise Smith; his brother, Robert “Dale” Jones; and his first great-grandchild, expected later this year.
He was preceded in death by his father, Billy Ray Jones.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on August 10, 2026, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.
He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
