SFC. Elmer Rooservelt Roberts, Sr.

FORT WORTH -- Elmer R. Roberts Sr. passed away Friday, May 13, 2016, at the age of 83. Service: 10 a.m. Monday at Williams & Lucas Funeral Home Chapel. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment: 12:30 p.m. Monday in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. Elmer was born to John and Redell Roberts on June 6, 1932, in Williamsburg, Va. He married Helen M. Roberts on July 25, 1965. Elmer retired after 23 years in the U.S. Army, which included serving in Vietnam and retired again with 20 years at the Bureau of Federal Prisons. He received awards and honors from both. He held membership in the Admirals Club, American Legion and UNICOR. Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Calvin Roberts. Survivors: Wife, Helen M. Roberts; children, Elmer R. Roberts Jr., Tammy D. Ford, Phillip W. Roberts, Michael L. Roberts, Elaine R. Roberts and Erik R. Roberts; three brothers; three sisters; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
