FORT WORTH -- Faye Schiff Berkowitz, 73, a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, died peacefully Wednesday morning, Dec. 28, 2005, at her son's home in Dallas, surrounded by family. ??? Funeral: 3 p.m. Thursday in the Barnett Sanctuary at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, 4050 S. Hulen St. Javier Smolarz, ritual director, will officiate. Burial: Faye will be laid to rest in Ahavath Sholom Cemetery. Bearers of her casket will be Elsie Blum, Bessie Bodzy, Gerry Brown, Shirley Herman, Beverly Moses, Libby Robinson, Rhoda Solomon and Barbara Weinberg. Visitation: A minyan service will be held at the residence in Fort Worth at 6 p.m. ??? Memorials: Mrs. Berkowitz?s family suggests that friends may honor her memory by making contributions to the Religious School Fund at Congregation Ahavath Sholom, or to the American Cancer Society. ??? A native of Healdton, Okla., Faye Frieda Schiff was born Dec. 29, 1931, the daughter of Sam and Mary Hornick Schiff. She attended the University of Oklahoma before marrying Herbert Berkowitz on March 4, 1951. ??? Faye worked with family members in Fort Worth at Jerry's Discount Liquors before operating Certified Check Cashing with her husband. She was a member of Congregation Ahavath Sholom, Jewish Women International and B'nai B'rith. She was also a member of the Eastern Star. ??? Survivors: Husband of 54 years, Herbert "Herbie" Berkowitz of Fort Worth; children, Ron Berkowitz and his wife, Barbara of Dallas, Shelly Berkowitz Bracken and her husband, Mike, of Plano, and Marni Berkowitz Kaner and her husband, Joseph, of Dallas; grandchildren, Max, Evan and Alyssa Berkowitz, Julie and Jill Bracken and Elizabeth and Brian Kaner; brother, George Schiff of Dallas; brother-in-law, Jerry Berkowitz and his wife, Ruth; sister-in-law, Sandra Berkowitz Williams and her husband, Rick, all of Fort Worth; and several nieces and nephews.
