Gilbert Douglas, Jr.

Gilbert Douglas, Jr. was born April 10, 1944, in Smithland, TX to Gilbert Sr. and Severnia Douglas. He departed this life on August 15, 2025 at the age of eighty-one in Round Rock, TX. He was the sixth of seven children. After losing his mother at a very young age, he was raised by his grandparents Jerry and Maebelle Douglas.

He was educated in the Marion County schools and went on to graduate from Jefferson High School. After graduation, Gilbert enlisted in the United State Air Force. He served in the Air Force for twenty-two years. In 1982 he retired from the Air Force and settle his family in Fort Worth, TX. He then started his second career with the United State Postal service. He was employed there for twenty-three years until he retired for the last time in 2005.

Gilbert was lived an active life serving God and community. He was an ordained Deacon and served the church in that capacity for many years. He was also a Scottish Rite Mason. He joined the Free Mason brotherhood in 1968 and served with his lodge until he transitioned. He was a thirty-third degree Mason.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert Sr and Severnia, one brother, Roscoe Douglas Sr, sisters, Blondell Weaver, Lulabelle Walters, and Anna Lynch. Also, two children, Anita Ellis and Keary Adams along with one grandson, Johnathon Douglas.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife of 60 years Jessie M. Douglas; sisters, Faheema Salaam Almay and Geraldine Hilt; four children, Rachel Douglas Reid (Shawn), Craig Douglas, Tonetta Tolden and Belinda Douglas- Allman (Shawn,); eleven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren with 2 on the way. Along with a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home located at 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas 76111. Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, August 27, 2025 also at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home. Committal service with Air Force honors will be held at 11:15 A.M., Thursday, August 28, 2025 at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery located at 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, Texas 75211.
