Hugh Dale McClendon, 81, passed away peacefully at his home on March 28, 2014 in Weatherford. Service: 11 a.m. Wednesday at First United Methodist Church of Keller. Interment to follow at Bourland Cemetery in Keller. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Silver Creek United Methodist Church, Building Fund. Hugh Dale McClendon was born on February 12, 1933 in McAlister, Oklahoma to Simp and Elsie McClendon. He attended Diamond Hill High School in Fort Worth. Hugh Dale served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He married the love of his life, Sue Ashlock, on December 10, 1954. Hugh Dale joined the Keller Lions Club in 1968, where he served a term as President, was the club Secretary for 28 years and held perfect attendance for over 40 years. He was a Keller School Board member for 13 years. Hugh Dale retired after 42 dedicated years with Bell Helicopter. He was a long time member of Silver Creek United Methodist Church, in Azle, and First United Methodist Church of Keller, where he served on numerous committees and chaired trustees. He is preceded in passing by his son, Bobby McClendon; his brother, Jerry McClendon; and his parents. Survivors: Loving wife of 59 years, Sue McClendon; brothers, Tom McClendon (Glenda), Frank McClendon (Jeannie) and Larry McClendon (Donna); sisters, Verona Woods (Ronnie) and Jan Boyd (Gary); aunt, Starlie Rinlee; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
