James Larry Scott

James Larry Scott, a retired CPA, passed away Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at a Fort Worth hospice. He was 74. Funeral: 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst, 1321 Precinct Line Road. Interment: Smithfield Cemetery. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Friday. Memorials: Memorial donations may be made to Union Gospel Mission of Tarrant County or Salvation Army. Floral tributes are also welcome. Larry was born December 19, 1939 in Fort Worth. He was the oldest child of the late J. L. "Jake" and Nancy Scott. He grew up in the Smithfield community, graduated from Carter Riverside High School in 1958 and from TCU in 1965. He married Darlene Beckham on April 28, 1962. They lived in Hurst for 36 years before moving to Lake Granbury in 2010. While in college, he began working in his uncle's accounting firm, James and Guinn. He was a staff accountant and later a partner in accounting firms until retirement in 2006. Among Larry's many interests were hunting, fishing and casino trips. Survivors: Wife of 52 years, Darlene Scott of Granbury; his sister Keith Gibson and her husband Mike of Tiki Island, TX; their sons Scott Gibson and wife Laura of LaQuinta, CA and Matt Gibson of North Richland Hills; five grandnephews and one grandniece; many dear family members and friends.
