Janice Kay Armstrong

Janice Kay Armstrong, 72, passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. She was a loving wife, mom, Nana and friend. Service: 11 a.m. Saturday at Lucas Funeral Home, 137 E. Hill St., Keller. Interment: 2 p.m. Saturday in Sunset Cemetery in Sunset, Bowie, Montague County. Visitation: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday. Janice was born January 4, 1942 in Decatur, Texas. She married Joe Armstrong August 9, 1958 in Durant, Oklahoma, a love that lasted until he was called home in August of 2011. To this marriage a family of three boys were lovingly raised. They lived in western Oklahoma and Fort Worth before moving to Venezuela for Joe to work in the oilfields. The couple moved to Crafton, where they ranched, farmed and operated a dairy farm. Later they moved to Sunset where they continued farming and ranching. Janice’s first love was her family; she would always put the needs of others before her own. Known affectionately as Nana to her grandchildren, she would pour her heart, love and time into every moment she was able too. Janice loved the spring time and the new blooms of colorful flowers, birds and the freshness of life that it brought. Her garden would often find tomato plants and pretty flowers to the ranch. She had a contagious laugh, a warm smile and solid belief in her God. Her spirit and memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all those that knew her. Janice is preceded in death by her husband and love, Joe Harvey Armstrong, parents, Carrol Floyd Able and Verlyene (Love); Siblings, David Able and Carolyn Harvick. Survivors: Sons, Joey Carroll Armstrong and wife, Karen, of Richmond, J. Lee Armstrong and Jarrett Harvey Armstrong and wife, Cheryl of Keller; Grandchildren, Dana Madden and husband, Mike of Richmond, Joseph Armstrong and Ian Armstrong, both of Houston, and Scott Armstrong, Reece Armstrong, Jace Armstrong and Mitch Armstrong, all of Keller; Great-grandchildren, Savannah Madden, Emery Madden and Greyson Guy Madden, extended family members and lifelong friends.
