Janie V. Hargis FORT WORTH--Janie V. Hargis, 76, a retired Arlington Independent School District educator and adminstrator, passed Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. SERVICE: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2018, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. Interment: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2018, Williams & Lucas Funeral Home. SURVIVORS: Children, Michael Hargis, Annette Brandon and Timothy Hargis; a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. STAR-tELEBRAM ~ JANUARY 27, 2018 ************ Sis. Janie V. Hargis Mitchell was born May 23, 1940, in Fort Worth, Texas. She was the last of nine children born to Royal and Malinda (Allen) Tatnull. She was reared in the way of the Lord at an early age and was an active member of the Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church. As a dedicated servant she often served within her church and in the local community. Janie was an enthusiastic individual who possessed an immense thirst for knowledge. As a young scholar, she was prompted to continue her education and earned a Bachelor of Science in English and her Master’s degree in Education. Janie taught in the Arlington Independent School District for 26 years. After retirement she met and married her late husband Rev. Frank Mitchell. They relocated to the East Texas Region where she continued her work for the Lord as First Lady to her husband, and serving as a volunteer in the community. … Janie leaves behind: her children; Michael Hargis (Jackie Hargis), Annette Brandon, and Timothy Hargis (Gavian Hargis); Grandchildren: Otto Hargis, Latoya Hargis, Donovan Hargis, Jannie Brandon, Destiny Garcia, Charlecia Brandon, and Zantrell Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, great grandchildren, extended family, and friends.
