FORT WORTH -- Jean Howard "Midge" Wheeler, 77, a retired builder and real estate developer, passed away Monday, June 26, 2006, at a local hospital. ??? Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke United Methodist Church, 3200 Denton Highway, Fort Worth. Burial: Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. ??? Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association. ??? Midge Wheeler was born Nov. 6, 1928, in Venus to the late Gaynelle and David Wheeler. After the family moved to Fort Worth in 1942, he attended North Side High School and graduated as valedictorian in 1946. He married his wife, Pat, on Jan. 24, 1953. They moved to Richland Hills and raised two daughters. In his long career, he built many homes and shopping centers in the Metroplex. ??? He was a member of Richland Hills Masonic Lodge and the Builders Association and was a charter member of Diamond Oaks Country Club. He enjoyed golf, his work and spending time with family and friends. ??? He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister. ??? May God bless his generous and loving soul. He was the best dad and granddad his children and grandchildren could ever have. ??? Survivors: His wife of 54 years, Pat Wheeler; daughters, Kay Malaise and Janice Spakes; grandsons, Michael Howard Malaise, Christopher Malaise and Matthew Malaise; granddaughter, Shanelle Spakes; great-granddaughter, Cassidy Malaise; brothers, Carl Wheeler of Charlotte, N.C., and Bobby Jack Wheeler of Long Beach, Calif.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
