NORTH RICHLAND HILLS -- John P. Johnson passed away Monday, June 23, 2014. Celebration of life: 2:30 p.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Hurst. Interment: (private) Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Lucas Funeral Home in Hurst. John was born in Orlando, Fla., to Joseph and Mary Jo Wilson Johnson on Nov. 30, 1954. He graduated in 1979 from the University of Texas College of Pharmacy, where he met the love of his life, Melissa Aleen Stover. John and Melissa married in Crane in 1980. John lived in North Richland Hills where he and Melissa raised their children, Sarah and Bobby. John's passions were spending time with family and friends, gardening, boating and traveling, as well as enjoying gourmet cooking and fine wine tasting. He also gave his time through church and community mission outreach. John's lasting gift is being a LifeGift donor. He was affectionately known as a loving husband, father, uncle and "Poppy." Survivors: Wife, Melissa; daughter, Sarah LaNore and husband, Marc; son, Bobby Johnson; granddaughter, Emma Nicole LaNore; sister-in-law, Mary Margaret Ninemire and husband, Stan; nephew, Joel Ninemire and wife, Serica; niece, Rachel Ninemire; and many close friends.
