FORT WORTH -- Joy Elaine Murray passed away Thursday, Aug. 14, 2014. Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Monday in the chapel of Lucas Funeral Home, 517 N. Sylvania. Interment: Mount Olivet Cemetery. Visitation: The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. A native of Fort Worth, Joy Elaine was born Aug. 10, 1925, to J.L. and Addie Haswell Neely. She was the youngest of five sisters. She attended Carter Riverside High School, where she met Jack Murray. They married March 20, 1945. She and Jack had two daughters, Bonny Elaine and Julie Beth. Joy worked as an administrative assistant in the Fort Worth ISD for assistant superintendent Dr. Troy Sparks. Joy was active in the Oakhurst Garden Club, Fort Worth Woman's Club and her church where she taught young children and a ladies' class. She enjoyed gardening, flower arranging, crafts, reading and, most of all, her family. She and Jack traveled extensively throughout the world. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters, Corrine Miller, Nina Gay, Mary Lee Drysdale and Helen Harper. Survivors: Daughters, Bonny Strickland and husband, Doug, and their children, Todd Strickland and wife, Cara, Jeri Walthall and husband, Chris, and Tye Strickland and wife, Melissa, and Julie Pruitt and husband, Nick, and their children, Jeb Pruitt and wife, Stacie, Jacob Pruitt and wife, Leah, and Molly Brown and husband, Brandon; and 14 great-grandchildren.
