Lera Roach Lawler died peacefully at her home on August 4,2014 with family by her side. She was born February 9, 1918 in rural Lamar County, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Clayton Roach and Amy Spear Roach, her five sisters, and her husband of more than 60 years, James Doyle Lawler. She is survived by her only child Susan Lawler Davis; grandson Leigh W. Davis and his wife Cheryl; grandson Allan James Davis and his wife Angela; great grandchildren Jillian, Nicholas, Anderson, and Aidan Davis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Though employed when younger, Lera spent most of her adult years as a loving wife, mother, and homemaker. She participated in civic and charitable activities including being a Fifty Year Member of the Grand Chapter of Texas Order of the Eastern Star, a member of the Greater Denton Women’s Club, and, later, a member of the CCA Charity League of Lewisville and the Resume Club of Lewisville. Lera and her husband were longtime members of Creekwood Christian Church, 2660 Forest Vista Dr., Flower Mound, Texas 75028. Funeral services: 2 p.m. August 7, 2014 at Lucas Funeral Home in Keller with internment immediately following at Roselawn Memorial Park in Denton. The Rev. Jeff Howell will officiate. Honorary pallbearers are Leigh W. Davis, Allan J. Davis, James Paul Harvey, Dick Harvey, Glenn Clayton, Jeff Jeffus, Terry Wirta, and Frank Atkins.
