Lewis Norman Johnson, 89, passed away July 5, 2014. Service: 10:30a Thursday, July 10 at First Baptist Church, Keller. Burial to follow at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.Visitation: 6-8pm Wednesday at Lucas Funeral Home, Keller. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Mission Fund at First Baptist Church, Keller. Lewis was born March 21, 1925 in Kress, Texas to Willie Lee and Janie Ticer Johnson. He graduated from high school in Clovis, New Mexico and attended the Eastern New Mexico University. Lewis proudly served in the Army during WWII. He was involved in the Japan and Philippine theaters where he made beachhead on Luzon Island. He went on to earn a Bronze Star. He and his wife, Frankie, married on March 3, 1946 in New Mexico. Together they had one daughter, Frances. Lewis became a bi-vocational pastor in 1949 serving church families in many parts of New Mexico such as Tiaban, Arch, Bethel, Millensand, and Melrose. He also served in Walla Walla and Wapato, Washington, and West Camp, Texas along with many other churches in the eastern New Mexico/West Texas area. He was Director of Missions for the Eastern Plain Association for five years and he taught at Marshall Junior High School in Clovis, New Mexico for twenty years. Lewis and Frankie moved from Clovis to Haslet, Texas in 2001 to be near their daughter. He became a member of First Baptist Church in Keller where he taught a Sunday School class until his health began to decline. Preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Walter Johnson; sister, Dorothy Kent; his parents-in-law, Luther and Lucy Modrall; and his son-in-law, Eddy Wilks. Survived by his wife of 68 years, Frankie; daughter, Frances Wilks; brother, Virgil and his wife, Sammye; grandchildren, Timothy Wilks and his wife, Lauri; Dean-na Warner and her husband, Mark, Matthew Wilks and his wife, Kindall; great granddaughters, Clara and Nell Wilks; sisters-in-law, Laverne Sager, Velma Bollinger, Claudia Hollen and her husband, Bill; many nephews and nieces along with a host of friends To send flowers or a memorial gift to the family of Lewis Norman Johnson please visit our Sympathy Store.
