She was born Mary Joe McClanahan Jan. 27, 1923, to T.L. and Myrtle McClanahan in Ringgold. After graduating from high school, she moved to Fort Worth where she was employed by American Manufacturing during World War II. After writing letters for over two years during the war to Willard S. Ellis, they finally met and later were married Dec. 15, 1945, and were happily married for over 60 years. She gave birth to two sons, Raymond and Randy Ellis. ? ?? A loving wife, mother and grandmother she enjoyed cooking, gardening and doing for her family. She especially enjoyed canning and baking. Her jalapeno pepper jelly is known throughout the state. She was a member of Riverside Christian Church. She will be missed by all. ??? Survivors: Husband, Willard S. Ellis; sons, Raymond Ellis of Keller and Randy Ellis and his wife, Dana of Fort Worth; grandson, Sterling Ellis of Keller; sister, Carolyn Manganella; and numerous nieces and nephews.
