Ms. Mary Lois Watkins was born on June 22, 1951 in Palestine, Texas. Her parents were the late Mrs. Essie B. Watkins and Mr. R.C. Watkins. At an early age she gave her life to Christ and was baptized at Antioch Baptist Church in Palestine, TX. Mary graduated from Dunbar High School in 1969. She went on to pursue her education in nursing at Tarrant County College. She became a Certified Nursing Assistant in 1970. Mary dedicated over 40 years to nursing. Mary was one of the most soft spoken, gentle, and loving person you’d ever meet. She enjoyed going to the casino and watching crime television. Some of her favorite tv shows were Law & Order, Criminal Minds, and Blue Bloods. Mary loved her family, friends, and most of all her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was called home to be with the Lord on May 18, 2025 in Fort Worth, Texas at the age of 73. She was surrounded by family and many friends while she made her transition.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Essie and R.C. Watkins; maternal grandparents, Jim Mark and Curlie Biggins; and paternal grandparents, John Cleave and Savannah Watkins.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, LaTonia Watkins of Arlington and LeMarcrea “Polo” Watkins of Fort Worth; grandchildren, Christopher Watkins, Christen Watkins, DeMarcus Powell, Kameron Lee, and Keilan Watkins; great-granchildren, Kynnedi, Nia, Micah, and Kamdyn; siblings, Bobby Watkins, Billy Watkins, Anthony Watkins and wife, Debbie, Linda Freeman, Jimmy Watkins and wife, Laurisa, Steven Watkins, and Cathy Watkins; special niece Angelica Morrow (Gella); special nephew Chre’Shaun Morrow; special friends, Marta Barron, Bunmi Bamidele, Linda Foggle, Rosiland Washington, Jackie Whitmore and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and a host of friends.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, May 30, 2025 at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home located at 517 N. Sylvania Avenue, Fort Worth, Texas. A funeral service will be held to celebrate Mary’s life at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, My 31, 2025 also at Williams and Lucas Funeral Home Chapel in Fort Worth with Pastor Robert Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Memorial Park Cemetery in Arlington, Texas.
