Mary Jo Willeford

Mary Jo Willeford of Fort Worth, Texas passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014. Mary Jo was born on December 3, 1923 in Tulsa, Oklahoma to Mary Ann and John Pirtle. Upon the death of her mother, Mary Jo was adopted and raised by her aunt, Cora Nichols. She graduated from Sapulpa High School in 1940. After high school, she began her career as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell. She relocated to Fort Worth, Texas, in 1950__ where she resided until her death. She continued her career with AT&T, where she was promoted to management before retiring in 1983. Mary Jo married her second husband, Calvin B. Willeford, in 1952. She enjoyed movies, spending time with her companion animals and playing games and cards with her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed spending time with her neighbors, Janet and Frank Riley and Loretta Pressler. Mary Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin B. Willeford, sisters Eula Mae Andrews and Lorraine Bronston, and niece Patricia Jean Taylor. She is survived by her two children and their spouses: Gene Alan and Sandy Thrasher and Mary Ann and Jerry Smart; four grandchildren: Sean Thrasher, Brandon Thrasher, Brent Smart and Lesli Smart Hartin and husband, John Hartin; and two great grandchildren: Elinor Smart and Alexandra Hartin.
