Roberta Tipps

Roberta Tipps, 94, was taken in the arms of the angels to be united forever with her parents and a host of other friends and relatives Thursday, June 29, 2006.  Funeral: 2 p.m. Monday in Blessing Colonial Chapel, 401 Elm Street, Mansfield. Burial: Mansfield Cemetery, Mansfield. Visitation: 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Blessing Funeral Home.  Memorials: Charity of choice or to Roberta Tipps Elementary School Memorial Fund.  Roberta was born Oct. 1, 1911, to Roy and Ruby Tipps in Mansfield. She was a third-generation resident of Mansfield. Her red brick home on Main Street was a favorite stopping place for friends and relatives for many years.  Roberta was a dedicated teacher for 39 years, teaching in Mansfield, Wichita Falls and Arlington. In 2003, the Mansfield school district bestowed the honor of naming a school for her.  She and her best friend, LaVerne Duncan, lived together after retirement and enjoyed their golden years traveling and playing bridge. She was a generously kind person with a beautiful, optimistic spirit.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ruby Tipps.  The family wishes to express its appreciation to VITAS Hospice Care, Angelic Place and her personal caregivers for helping her live her final days on this earth with dignity and grace.
