-- Steve Wendling, 60, having struggled with cancer for several months, passed away at home peacefully on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Funeral Service: Friday, March 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Fellowship of the Parks Church. 1901 Hall-Johnson Road, Grapevine, TX. Lunch will follow after the service. Steven Robert Wendling was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota on April 15, 1953, the son of Robert W. and Betty M.(Erickson) Wendling. He graduated from Washington High School in 1971, and further received his B.S. in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota in 1975, where he was a member of the Beta Theta Pi Fraternity. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church until he left home in 1971. On January 29, 1983, Steve married Diane (McInnish) at the First United Methodist Church in Carrollton, TX. Steve and Diane lived most of their married lives in Grapevine, TX, where they raised their two daughters. Steve was employed by Exxon Mobil at the time of his diagnosis of cancer in 2013. Steve enjoyed reading about WW II, watching football and NASCAR; and, most of all, time with his family. Steve is preceded in death by his father, Robert W. Wendling, mother, Betty (Erickson) Wendling, and his sister, Lisa Krsak. Survivors: Wife, Diane; daughters, Jennifer and Cassandra; sister, Susan Wendling; brother, Roger Wendling; as well as extended family members. Steve was expecting his first grandchild in July 2014.
