Sue Tilden Sterna, 58, of Amarillo, TX went to heaven on July 22, 2014. She was born on October 17, 1955 in Elmhurst, IL, the daughter of Elizabeth and the late Ralph Tilden. Sue was united in marriage to John Sterna on June 19, 1976. In 1982, they moved to Plano, TX and then to Amarillo, TX in 1994, where they have resided since. She is survived by her husband, John Sterna; four children, Jeff (Angel) Sterna, Justin (Brennon) Sterna, Katie Sterna, Lauren (Collin) Gillaspie; five grandchildren, Cameron, Dylan, Savannah, Cole and Adam Sterna; one sister, Tara (John) Esposito, one brother Keith (Barbara) Tilden, one brother in law, Richard (Karen) Sterna, two sisters in law, Melanie Ferrara, Janet (Andy) McGlinn and many nieces and nephews. Sue was an incredible person and found such joy in her family and serving others. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels for many years. Sue loved sports and served as President of the Amarillo High School Booster Clubs as well as President for her children’s volleyball and basketball clubs. Her love for family and sports always kept her on the go all over the country. She never wanted to miss a game. Not only was she an amazing mother to her children, she was considered a second Mom to many. Sue took such joy in constantly opening her home to host events for family and friends. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, who even now are being changed by her witness of constant nurturing, love, and faith. Her life will be celebrated on Friday, July 25 at 1:00 pm at: Gateway Church – North Richland Hills 7501 Davis Blvd. North Richland Hills, TX 76182 A reception will follow at the church. The family requests casual and bright attire as a reflection of her love of life. Sue wanted to give back to the community she so loved.
